May 20, 2009, Burlington, VT...Heritage Flight, a leading provider of aircraft charter, maintenance, FBO and aircraft management services at Burlington International Airport (BTV) has received approval from the Transportation Security Administration to conduct general aviation flights utilizing Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).
Since September 11, 2001, general aviation aircraft operations had been prohibited at Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) which is just five miles from the nation's capitol. In 2005, the TSA began allowing properly vetted operators to begin flying in and out of DCA. The TSA developed a security plan known as the DCA Access Standard Security Program (DASSP).
Heritage Flight meets the strict requirements the DASSP demands, including an approved security program, designating a security director, conducting a fingerprint-based background check on the pilots and a thorough inspection of the aircraft.
"We have always been proud of our operation and commitment to safety" said Gregory Bean, Chief Pilot for Heritage Flight. "Now we are among just a handful of approved operators able to utilize DCA, and are very proud of our new distinction."
Heritage Flight is an ARG/US Platinum, Wyvern recommended and IS-BAO certified part 135 operator with a Challenger 604, two Citation Excels, a Citation Encore and four King Air BE-90 aircraft for charter. Heritage Flight is also an FAA certified repair station and avionics facility serving the general aviation community since 1984.
